View up the Carmel Valley from a point about 12 kilometers from the mouth of the Carmel River. The Carmel River flows in a wooded channel from the central middle ground into the right foreground. To the right of the river, a golf course is built on an ancient landslide. In the left foreground, the houses are built on the flood plain and fluvial terraces.
