Comments on Gigapan: Antietam Formation

This exposure of Cambrian Antietam Quartzite is along the Norfolk Southern Railroad west of Linden Virginia. This unit is a very clean quartzite with little to no impurities. Stratigraphically, the Antietam formation is the top of the Blue Ridge Anticlinorium. This exposure is on the western flank of the Anticlinorium....
