- Description
-
Lake McDonald, the largest lake in Glacier National Park, is a quiet winter scene on Feb. 2, 2012. Along the shoreline, splashing, dabbling golden eyes are the only sounds and movement on this afternoon along the beach. A mild winter has kept the lake from freezing, even along the shoreline where there is usually a band of ice. See if you can spot the distant peaks of the Continental Divide and perhaps an avalanche chute or two.
