This is an exhibit currently showing at the Michigan State University Museum. Leonardo da Vinci’s Ornithopter, a manned flying machine, may have been inspired by Greek mythology’s Icarus and his constructed wings. Or, the inspiration may simply have come from the birds outside of da Vinci’s window. In this exhibit, we explore biological inspiration and some of the fictional and real technologies based on nature.
