This GigaPan location is very close to a previous GigaPan taken of Natalie: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=11024.
And another view of Brochstein is: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=11534
Note: all three GigaPans should be viewed in Google Earth. Doing so will provide a natural curved view, which the viewer may judge as astonishing. The effect is like standing in front of a camera lens as you turn your head from left to right.
What prompted me to return was a recen...

This replaces a previous version of Cara's GigaPan, which was taken to the west of Brochstein Pavilion. Cara was between classes and happily agreed to be in this panorama; however, there are a couple of problems with it due to my error, which I regret.
Other than that, this is a very beautiful panorama, which has been re-uploaded for your continual enjoyment.
There are other panoramas that have been taken around Brochstein and can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/BrochsteinPavill...

My goal was to take a panorama encompassing Herring Hall, Brochstein Pavilion and Fondren Library; however, as I was setting up the robot, Natalie walked by and asked me a few questions as to what I was doing and after answering those questions, I asked her if she wanted to participate and this wonderful panorama is the result of her answer.
Play the game: how many versions of Natalie are there in this panorama?
If you answer correctly, then how many trees?
If you answer correctly, t...

On the campus of Rice University, a current exhibition features seven works of steel and bronze sculptures by internationally acclaimed artist James Surls; one of which appears in this hand-held 360-degree panorama (for maximum effect, click on "View in Google Earth").
More information about James Surls and the Rice exhibition can be found here: http://explore.rice.edu/explore/magseven.asp and http://explore.rice.edu/images/SurlsBrochure.pdf

Last week, I took a GigaPan of which this following snapshot was extracted, http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27578&snapshot_id=84354, and because of the comment of Kilgore's, I again became interested in the life of William Herschel and of his sister, Caroline, especially the astronomical achievements that the two Herschel's made (http://newhumanist.org.uk/1508) while living in Bath, England (from a GigaPan; Zoom Baby, Zoom, their house can be seen here: http://www.gigapa...

Taken on a Sunday afternoon in October when most students were either studying or maybe at Reckling Baseball Park to see a scrimage between Rice and Texas.
Where I set up was swampy... lots of collected rainwater... great place for a lake.
The predominate trees show damage from Hurricane Ike. A year from now, I will reatke this panorama to show the difference.
The towering effect of the trees and of the chapel tower can best be observed by clicking on the link to "View in Google ...

As I walked through Brochstein Pavillion to take a panorama of Herring Hall, guess who I ran into? Right... Rebecca from the Sally Ride GigaPan, http://gigapan.org/gigapans/11021/snapshots/30478/. She was in Brochstein reading and studying and told me that she graduated from Rice in May and has now gone on to Med School, but still studies at Rice.
Anyway, we decided that we would take a panorama and what you see is the first result. The stitch was not perfect, but that is not a problem sin...

The entire series of eleven Rice Snowstorm 2009 panoramas can be seen via this link: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=blizzard+riceu
This hand-held panorama was taken on December 4, 2009 at about 1:50 PM after I entered Rice University campus. This is a view that we have seen a number of times before (most recently, the two panorams of Rebecca), obviously not with any snow. Through the snow flurries, it is obvious to the viewer that Brochstein shines.
This panorama ...

The entire series of eleven Rice Snowstorm 2009 panoramas can be seen via this link: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=blizzard+riceu
This hand-held panorama was taken on December 4, 2009 at about 2 PM and I am standing on the east side of Brochstein Pavilion in the plaza area between Brochstein and Fondren Library. I met Molly and her friend when I entered Brochstein, and asked them if they wanted to be in a GigaPan. Molly has a camera with a gorgeous lens and I would ...
