Although the Shell refinery is more than 40 km north of here in Scotford, the main storage and distribution site is on the east side of Edmonton near the Envirofuels refinery in Sherwood Park. The ubiquitous magpies stand guard on one of the tanks.

While I was setting up to shoot the Gigapan, a small flock of curious Purple Martins were swooping and hovering just a few feet from the camera. It was clear they wanted to be part of the panorama. Photographed near Leduc, Alberta south of Edmonton.

My First attempt with a borrowed 550D and a 55-250 IS. Since it was raining and cold, the lack of a remote trigger forced it to be only @ 50mm Focal distance with 2sec exposure F: 4 and ISO 400 Made in some awesome 40mins :)

Rugged Arizona terrain viewed from an overlook of Fish Creek along the Apache Trail. The yellow rocks are thick layers of volcanic tuff from a gigantic caldera eruption that ocurred about 25 million years ago.
