Hidden away in the woods, and surrounded by a rusting, torn and collapsing chain-link fence, it’s an area anybody with common sense would avoid. It's off the beaten path - literally. Partially visible from the main road (if the trees are not too full,) it's easy to miss. A surprisingly clear, small lagoon separates t...

View from Scotty's grave. Soctty's castle is a Spanish-stlye house built by insurance executive Albert Johnson in grapevine canyon in what is now Death Valley National Park. The name is supplied by Walter Scott (AKA Death Vallsy Scotty) a local legend, and friend of the Johnsons. Construction began in 1922, but the ...

One of the most spectacular views in Death Valley National Park, one can see over two miles of vertical relief, from Badwater, near the bottom of the image, 282 feet below sea level, to Telescope Peak, in the Panamint Range, 11043 feet above sea level. I'm really disappointed that this one ended up affected by the R...

A picture of Artist's Pallette in Death Valley, CA. I've calculated this at around 45 megapixels, and was stitched together by hand in Photoshop.

One of the classic morning shots in Death Valley National Park - surprisingly, I had the viewpoint all to myself when I arrived. These are mostly Tertiary sediments that have been significantly tilted in their relatively short geological lifetime - an indication of how active the tectonics of this region are.

This stretch of devastated land is in an area north of Pittsburgh, known as the North Hills. This strip of land, particularly, is at the beginning of what is Mcknight Road. A commercially, and residentially developed road. However, there was once an area that still held its own to the development that the rest of the ...
