Ka`ena Point Natural Area Reserve, the westernmost tip of O`ahu. I used manual exposure settings; the bands are caused by rapidly moving clouds blocking the sun. How many nesting Laysan Albatross can you find?

A working Lithography studio for members of the Honolulu Printmakers Workshop, and for students at the Honolulu Academy Art Center. (35C x 20R) You can sure tell it's used frequently! My first try at a spherical gigapan (or nearly so). It looks great as a sphere in the stitcher, but, once uploaded to gigapan.org, l...

- Mixed Media Miniature XI at the Koa Gallery, Kapiolani Community College, Honolulu by Richard Palmer

The eleventh annual MMM invitational fund raising exhibition for the Koa Gallery. This gigapan, and the others in the Koa Gallery set, show the limits of the Auto focus capability of the Canon S5-IS - it leaves a bit to be desired at close range, and when trying to focus on a blank wall. The stitcher still has some d...

These spectacular cliffs along the Ka`iwi Coast of O`ahu are next to the parking lot for the Moloka`i Lookout, between Hanauma Bay and the Hālona Blowhole. One cloud bank passed by, giving a dark band at about the 40% area. This is a 18 row x 48 column image. I thought it would be much larger, but I probably set th...

This is another attempt at making a multi focal plane "macro" pano. It's small. Now that I know I can do this, it's on to a gigapixel multi-focal-plane pano. Tools: Epic100 Olympus E510 Kit 14-42 lens at 42mm (84mm equiv.) F11 at 1/15 sec. 2.5 seconds per pic to allow for writing to XD card (slow) 8 focal plan...

The boardwalk in the middle of the frame runs through the short stature rainforest of the Mount Ka`ala Natural Area Reserve bog. It is located on Waianae volcano (West Oahu), and at just about 4,000 feet, is the highest spot on the island of O`ahu.

The Ka`iwi Coast of east O`ahu. This area was purchased from a private owner to protect the open space. This slice of O`ahu's coastline includes Makapu`u Point (behind), Sandy Beach (Sandy's), the Halona Blowhole, From Here to Eternity Beach, Hanauma Bay, and Koko Crater. Koko Head is near the top left of the image. ...
