Bow Lake at the summit of the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. Less than 500 meters from where I was standing, there was a momma grizzly and her two cubs out for a morning stroll through the meadows. To get a shot like this you MUST be here early in the morning...preferably before 7AM

Bow Lake and Crowfoot Mountain in the Canadian Rockies. While I was setting up the Gigapan there were a couple of photographers on the left with their big Canon lenses taking photos of birds nearby. Little did they know they were being immortalized in one of my first Gigapans! Update: This will be the first of my ...

This is the oldest living tree in Alberta. This Whitebark Pine (Pinus albicaulis) wraps itself around the bare rocks on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River near the Banff Park boundary and has been there for more than 1200 years. A small seedling has started to grow near the base of the tree and will eventually ...

One of my larger Gigapans, the photos were taken early in the morning after a heavy snowfall a few days earlier on the upper slopes. The mountain rises more than 1600 meters above the valley floor and is more than 10,741 feet high. Composed of many layers of shale, quartzite and limestone, it stands in solitary splend...

A short hike from the Bow summit on the Icefields Parkway, Peyto Lake was named after pioneer explorer Bill Peyto. This is an early morning shot, around 9:00 AM when the air was calm, clear and the lighting was optimum. There was a slight breeze and the temps at the time were near freezing...not unusual at this altit...

The "high point" for many thousands of visitors to Banff and Jasper National Park. Little did I realize while I was recording this Gigapan, there were a group of 10 climbers on the glacier below Mount Athabasca...I spotted them on one or more of the frames that make up the image. gigapan.org/gigap...

The Gigapan does its magic in the Rockies. All the colours you see are natural...the lake is almost a pure shade of cyan. It's one of the most visited sites in the Rockies, if not all of Canada. At one time, there was an illustration of the lake and mountains on the back of the Canadian $20 banknote. To reach t...
