The meadow at Moraine Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, with part of the continental divide in the background. There's a nice herd of elk grazing in the meadow, along with an unidentified photographer in the distance, possibly taking a macro shot. I stitched only 10 rows x 55 columns of a 20R x 91C image - cut out ...

Some of the best light a photographer could ask for... well worth delaying breakfast a little while.

Horseshoe Park as viewed from Rainbow Curve in Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful examples of meandering river features are present along the course of the Fall River. The alluvial fan that resulted from the Lawn Lake flood is also visible left of the center of the image.

Given the questionable weather forecasts I decided to shoot a GigaPan of Moraine Park on the evening of my arrival in Estes Park, Colorado for the Fine Outreach for Science (FOFS) GigaPan conference. The lighting wasn't great, but at least all of the peaks around the valley were in the clear. Thirty seven hours later...

The Gigapan does its magic in the Rockies. All the colours you see are natural...the lake is almost a pure shade of cyan. It's one of the most visited sites in the Rockies, if not all of Canada. At one time, there was an illustration of the lake and mountains on the back of the Canadian $20 banknote. To reach t...

Located near Lake Louise, Alberta. It's one of the most photographed scenes in Banff National Park. I would have preferred to take a larger panorama from the top of the "rockpile" but the trail was closed for repairs until later this year. Perhaps this fall... The new panorama looks much better: gigapan

A quickie. I attempted to frame this GigaPan with some of the pines in the foreground. The lighting contrast was just too much, though, and the mountains on the horizon are badly overexposed.

Early morning view of Moraine Park at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado during late Fall 2010. Longs Peak (14,259' elevation) and neighboring The Dove glacier appear slightly left of center. Moraine Park is a valley formed thousands of years ago when glaciers settled between two mountain ridges (known as "mora...
