Haze from New Mexico fire makes visibility low. The saguaros in the foreground are part of a long-term study plot on the south side of Tumamoc Hill. to the lower left, one can see part of a trinchera, prehistoric rock alignments to make terraces on the hill.

Scene shot late morning from the road below the Desert Lab looking east towards downtown. The Saguaro flowers are starting to close from the night before.

My firend who has lived in Tucson most of his life tells me this is an impact crater. I had always thought it was excavated for some of the older houses, which still show volcanic rock as foundations. Any thoughts from your rock hounds?

This is taken from where all the communication towers are located. Of course today, when I stayed home, was a much more clear day. Oh, well, it's always great to be up there.

My apologies for frame number 1. I took 3 exposure sets at F4.5; 1/200, 1/320, and 1/500. This pano is all 1/320, except for frame number 1, which, apparently, I accidentally selected from the 1/500 set. See if you can find the house with the multitude of microwave antennae the roof.
