Hanauma Bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island of O`ahu, Hawai`i. I took this panorama with the initial beta model GigaPan unit, and a 8 megapixel Canon S5-IS P&S camera. With a 12x optical zoom, and a 1.5x tele-extender, the effective focal length is approximately 650 mm. Wave movement ...

A "panoramic" view (15 rows x 66 columns)of Honolulu from the lookout at Pu`u Ualaka`a State Park. The top of Leahi Crater (Diamond Head) is 4 miles away, and the reef runway at HNL (Honolulu International Airport) is about 8 miles away.

A beautiful afternoon at Waikiki. I took the panorama from the Kapiolani Park end of Waikiki at the Kapahulu Pier/breakwater. The view is towards the NorthWest. Lots of water movement and people movement make for many interesting discoveries.

Another fun macro-pano. Looks like I'll need manual focus at each frame, though. :^( I knocked over the board before I could try - a big mess. Will make a new face and try it again. How many plant families can you identify? Hint - 12 - unless I missed any. A few are fairly difficult. The salt in the salt & p...

This is my first attempt at taking a macropanorama with multiple focal planes. I used the "Last Panorama" function on the GigaPan unit to retake the same field, but only after selecting another focal plane. I then used Helicon Focus software to render each frame, then stitched the panorama from the rendered frames wi...

This diminutive endemic Kauai lobelia, Cyanea asarifolia, is now presumed extinct in the wild. It's range was restricted to the base of 3,000 ft. cliffs at the "Blue Hole" at the base of Mt. Wai`ale`ale, the rainiest spot on Earth. These plantlets, when grown to sufficient size in a greenhouse, may one day be planted b...
