Closer view of gigapan.org/gigapans/33895/ Here you can see the repairs going on with the concrete at the base of the towers with a lot of exposed re-bar yet to be filled with new concrete. Moving clouds were causing the stripes.

Opened in 1929, this classic suspension bridge spans Narragansett Bay between Bristol and Portsmouth, RI. Repairs are being done to the concrete bases of the main towers and a barge with a crane is tied to the north tower. The Bristol Ferry Lighthouse, on the right, under the bridge was built in 1855 and was in use up ...

This panorama was shot using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II on the new Gigapan Epic 100. The shutter was set to manual mode since the angle of the 5D's shutter is a bit too steep for the Epic 100's robotic finger. A Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens was used, which helped to reduce the amount of frames to 24 - but with the 5D Mark I...

The Epic 100 was placed in manual shutter mode after setting the start and end point for the Panorama. The Epic 100 moves to a position and waits for you to press the shutter of the camera. This is the view from the North-West of Fort Purbrook showing the parade ground. I tried several times to get a big, high resolution 360° from this viewpoint but the wind was too strong, and this was the best shot I got. Most annoyingly, I missed a group a people having an outdoor fencing lesson in the middle o...

The courtyard at Fort Purbrook at higher resolution. Not a bad shot considering I left the focal length at infinity. God bless the old H7! After this it was time to go and get The Big Pano from the top of the fort: www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=11732.

The second pano from Fort Purbrook. This one shows the sunken courtyard and the photographer with that most essential of all camera accessories - the bivvy bag. Very useful to have something to crawl into when one is out in the wild weather for hours on end. It is not ideal for camping - see www.kilgore.demon.co
