  1. Rugged Arizona terrain viewed from an overlook of Fish Creek along the Apache Trail. The yellow rocks are thick layers of volcanic tuff from a gigantic caldera eruption that ocurred about 25 million years ago.

  2. Papago Butte and Barnes Butte rise about 400 feet above the valley floor. Papago Butte is part of Papago Park. Barnes Butte is on the Arizona Army National Guard base on the far side of McDowell Road.

  7. This was taken on the "high road" between Santa Fe and Taos. It has 12 segments, each composed of a three exposure HDR image. It was taken with a Canon 5DMkII with a Canon 24-105 MM lens set at 47mm and F/8. The three HDR exposures were +/- 2 EV with a nominal of about 1/1000 sed.

  10. While I was setting up to shoot the Gigapan, a small flock of curious Purple Martins were swooping and hovering just a few feet from the camera. It was clear they wanted to be part of the panorama. Photographed near Leduc, Alberta south of Edmonton.
