This is the Livingstone River, just a short distance below Livingstone Falls. The river tumbles along the base of a tilted and remarkably flat stone outcrop which has collected, in its cracks and faults, a wide variety of indigenous wildflowers. The growing season is short here so it seems every species that does bloo...

The camera is located on a small dam with Mount Rundle to the North-West, Canmore townsite to the NE, Ha Ling Peak is SE, and this little lake (or pond) is to the SW. It receives water from the reservoirs and canals of the upper Spray Lakes Reservoir system and provides...

Calgary's Light Rail Transit bridge is on the left, the Tenth Street Bridge to the right. They are major links between west downtown and the city north of the Bow River.

This reservoir stores water for hydro-electric power generation and supplies the town of Canmore with water. In late June-when this pano was made-the water level is low. It will be allowed to rise over the Summer to reach the vegetation that can be seen high up on the shores. Then it will be drawn down the followi...

The bridge at near right carries Calgary's Light Rail Transit over the Bow River on its top deck. Pedestrians and cyclists use the lower deck. The Tenth Street Bridge is just beyond. It carries automobile and pedestrian traffic on its single deck.

The Parks Dept. has a project where some of the city's storm runoff is directed to this constructed wetland. The project demonstrates the filtering capability of native plants and soils as the waste water works its way through this natural system, and eventually to the Bow River. Lots of birds and animals hang out here...

This GigaPan was made to compare and contrast with my earlier Earth Hour 2009 pano. The location is the same but quite a lot has changed from 24 hours ago. Not only are more lights on, there has also been about 6cm of snow and the sky has cleared. (A billboard here looks to have a new ad, but it is the type that cycles...
