  1. This is an amphibolite grade metamorphic rock out of one of the ophiolites in the Klamath Mountains in northern California. It's really a very brilliant green due to the chromium content - I'm not sure the camera or lighting fully captures that.

  2. This porphyritic (olivine phenocrysts) vesicular basalt was collected from a roadcut on the southwest rift zone of Mauna Loa in Hawaii.
