Driving through the Sierra Nevada mountain range and approaching Lake Tahoe, I realized this was the final leg of our seven day road trip from Catasaqua, Pennsylvnaia to Chico, California. The trip was approximatly 3,300 miles, not the most direct route but it was nice to get off I-80 and avoid truck traffic and road ...

This image was taken in Redding, CA near the Sundial Bridge. Unfortunatly I cut the top of the bridge off... but in the image you can still see Mount Shasta (14,179 ft) one of the southernmost mountains in the Cascade mountain range. You can also view fly fisherman trying to land trophy trout in this section of the r...

This panorama was taken about 2000 miles into our trip from Allentown, Pennsylvania to Chico, California. Rob and I were moving to Chico for a chance to work with some of the best beekeepers and scientists in the country. Another shot of the Badlands this time as the sun was receding. After turning off I-90 onto 240 near the town of Cactus Flat we entered the Northeast Entrance of Badlands National Park. I took my first Gigapan at the Big Badlands Overlook and then moved south through the park toward the town of Interior stopping befo...

Our plan after leaving Devil's Tower National Monument was to continue heading west, on I-90 then head toward the Wind River Canyon while making our way to the Tetons. We stopped in the town of Buffalo for an oil change and some food. We picked up some maps and started asking some of the locals where we might be...

The last Gigapan of the road trip from Pennsylvania to California came a day after the Tetons at Lake Tahoe. After leaving the Tetons we passed through Idaho Falls then crossed down in to northern Nevada. We drove as far as we could before spending the night in a hotel near a small town called Battle Mountain. Nor...

After leaving the campground in Thermopolis we drove south through the Wind River Canyon toward Riverton where we took US 26 stopping again in the town of Dubois still hunting for a stream that we could spend a few hours fishing. We ate lunch in Dubois and met the owner of the Whiskey Creek Saloon. Turns out he i...

After months of hard work and dedication from our Penn State University team, all of the 875 kits for the National Honey Bee Disease Survey have been boxed and are ready to be shipped out to 33 states. After weeks of rain, the Bradford Pear trees are finally in bloom. The bloom was delayed by two weeks from last year due to the cold and rain. This is a great sign for a Pennsylvania Beekeeper's because colonies are now producing brood and expanding along with the blooming flowers of the spring. R. Snyder
