This large gigglepan is what I call a superpan with over 800 images making it up. It's well worth exploring. This is called "the floating harbour" because the water is held in by lock gates. Otherwise the boats would all end up resting on the mud at low tide twice each day. The SS Great Britain, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel was the first ever iron hulled, screw propellor driven liner and was the largest in the world when it was built. it was brought back to the dock in which i...

This was a sort of a test as I used the autofocus feature to see if I got clearer shots than with the manual focus. Alligator Lake is in rural Osceola County, Florida to the Southeast of the Orlando metro area. a pretty Saturday morning by the lake.

Shem Creek is one of the highlights of Charleston, South Carolina. Both boating and seafood afficianados have plenty to do here since Shem Creek is the best spot in town for eating on the water. With fresh seafood coming in daily from the locally-parked shrimp boats, visitors are sure to get the best seafood in town right here. The public access boat landing is right up the creek - just under the bridge - and is used by kayakers, jet skiers, and small watercraft.

This is one of my favorite spots in Gombe. It is quite well hidden and you have to know where it is. Fortunately the chimps traveled through here years ago when I was with them and have I returned many time since. It is at the top of a 100'cliff overlooking a natural bowl. I have spent hundereds of hours in this valley following the Gombe chimps.

Tarpon Springs is home to shrimp boats and sponge divers. The crew of this boat were preparing for a night of fishing.
This is protorapghed with the aid of the Gigapan Epic Pro robotic panoramic mount. Taken on my first day of beta testing this unit.
I used a 50-500mm Sigma lens on a Nikon D200. The lens was set at 300mm. The Gigapan unit was set to digitally fire the shutter (twice per frame, one for mirror lock up so that I could reduce movement, and one for taking the photo).

This gigapan is made from a set of photos taken at the same time as http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=21260 but with AE-lock, appears to have fewer stitching artefacts than 21260. The sky is more uniform. Some detail is lost in the shadows as compared with 21260 but on the whole, this one is better.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is a pair of mile-long suspension bridges in the U.S. state of Washington, which carry State Route 16 across the Tacoma Narrows between Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula. They replaced a bridge that was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and which became famous four months later for a dramatic wind-induced structural collapse that was caught on motion picture film. The original span's motion earned it the nickname Galloping Gertie.
