Shem Creek is one of the highlights of Charleston, South Carolina. Both boating and seafood afficianados have plenty to do here since Shem Creek is the best spot in town for eating on the water. With fresh seafood coming in daily from the locally-parked shrimp boats, visitors are sure to get the best seafood in town right here. The public access boat landing is right up the creek - just under the bridge - and is used by kayakers, jet skiers, and small watercraft.

A pretty little stream in western Alberta that empties into the Sheep River just a few meters past where this Gigapan was shot. You can see the water's turquoise tint - more distinct in deeper spots - as is usual with glacier runoff.

A small mining and gambling town nestled behind Pikes Peak. This GigaPan was taken with a Canon 5D MK II (21 MP) camera and Really Right Stuff Panoramic equipment. 41 images were taken and composited in Autopan software. It is far easier to use the GigaPan Epic and a Canon G10 with GigaPan's software. I am printing the 1.5 GB file to 50x285 inches on a Canon iPF9000 printer. The 5D MK II did give a higher reolution result. The lens on the 5D MK II was a 100-400mm set to 260mm.

Often during the summer Big Creek at this location will dry up and only mudcracks will mark its channel, but last night we had some good thunderstorms, so the creek is alive an well today. Big Creek is a meandering creek on the Great Plains of western Kansas. Historic Fort Hays was establised just a mile or so downstream in 1865 and operated until 1889. In 1902, Fort Hays State University was established in the floodplain of Big Creek at this location. In May 1951, a spring deluge caused Big...
