This was taken as a series of 20 hand-held shots at the Escondido Creek Conservancy in Elfin Forest, near San Diego. Note the exposure includes sections that are directly into the sun as well as shadows in rocks. Vertical field of view is about 180 degrees, horizontal about 90.
