This is also known as a red flour beetle, and it's magnified 500x using a scanning electron microscope. This is a pest beetle that causes damage to stored grains and can live up to three years. This specimen was given to us by Molly Steinwald, a PhD candidate in the Department of Zoology at Miami University.
