  6. Amos was an ancient city, located near the modern town of Turunç, Turkey in the entrance of Marmaris Bay. Among the ruins are an amphitheatre and several ruined temples. Excavations in 1948 unearthed several inscriptions dating back to approximately 200 BCE.
