Shot from a rock in front of the waterfall. Up the hill you can see the outcrop with all its huge icicles. A gigapan shot up there: gigapan.org/gigapans/40022/. This one is a re-stitch of gigapan.org/gigapans/40023/, which was buggy. I shot this with autofocus, because there was a range of depths. The ...

My biggest manual stitch to date, I used my homemade pano head and a Canon 30D to capture 84 frames. I automatically stitched the bottom 40 frames and the top 44 frames in Photoshop then manually blended the two together. Enjoy all the icy goodness : ) You can also follow me on Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/60937

A 9.1 meter waterfall in Ohiopyle State Park, in southwestern Pennsylvania. In winter you get spectacular icicles here: stalactites, stalagmites, columns, hard rime, tubes, and other forms. This was shot a week after the big snowstorm. Temperatures this day were about 0C. I used Yaktrax on my boots to help walk on...

Thanks to Paul Wiegman for suggesting these cliffs for icicle hunting. To get here, walk to the north end of the Route 381 bridge over Meadow Run, follow the faint path immediately to the southeast and uphill through the rhododendrons, then traverse below the rock cliff for a few hundred meters. If you keep going be...

Some of these icicles are probably 4m tall! I shot this with autofocus, because there was a range of depths. It was snowing, and I had to brush snowflakes off the lens occasionally. This picture came out a little dark; I should lighten it.
