Hand-held panorama taken in May 2007. The brick structure at the left is the base of the Campanile tower from which I took several hand-held panoramas the same day as this one. Searching for "Campanile" will find those, and if you search for panoramas by "Vicenç Palà (vicencpala)", you can see t...

Taken in May, 2007, this view from the campanile tower on the piazza/square of San Marco, overlooks some of the urban islands which form Venice. The omnipresent tile roofs form a sea of consistent terra cotta red which can only be apprecated fully from a viewpoint such as this one.

Venice as it appeared on May 15, 2007 in transit from the island of Lido. This was a hand-held shot from a bobbing vaporetto ("public bus" boat) at a stop along the way! San Marco square is the tower to the right in this photo. This view is a re-generation of a panorama I had uploaded earlier --- Photostitch's second...

This hand-held panorama was taken from downriver looking East towards the world-renowned Ponte Vecchio on the Arno River, Florence, Italy. The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge") dates from 1345, in its present form. The bridge is lined on either side with opulent goldsmith shops and is a lively streetscape with b...

(Note: This hand-held panorama was taken in May 2007, when there was scaffolding on one side of the Basilica during renovation work there.) Called by Napoleon "the drawing room of Europe", the Piazza San Marco is a must-see destination for every visitor to Venice. The Square is anchored on one end by the heavily orn...

This 4,000 year old red granite obelisk (sometimes referred to as the obelisk of Rameses II) required an unimaginable amount of effort and energy to transplant from its native Egypt to this "Square of the People" (originally "Square of the Poplars" in older translations) in Rome, Italy. The mind bo...

Taken in May 2007, this is a typical vineyard view in Tuscany, with an ancient hilltop town, Panzano in Chianti, in the distance. The location is about halfway between Florence and Siena in the Chianti wine-making region of Tuscany on highway #222. This is also a geocache site, keyword "Panzano Vineyards" (waypoint c...
