Banded iron formation. The greyish color is specular hematite, the red is jasper, and the gold is tiger's eye. Sample is 26 cm across at its widest point, and was contributed by Dr. Jay Kaufman of University of Maryland.

This recently discovered grove of vey old Western Red Cedar is located in the Rocky Mountain Trench between McBride and Prince George, BC. The trees range from 2-5 meters in diameter, ages approaching 2000 years. Undergrowth is mostly Devil's Club. Help save this grove. ancientcedar.ca

The jeep road takes you about 4500 feet above the town in east-central BC in the Rocky Mountain Trench between Jasper, Alberta and Prince George. The CN Railway still serves this region for both freight and passenger service.
