Looking over the Pali can be a site to behold. The lookout is a part of the windward cliff of the Ko'olua mountains. The view gives you a glimpse of Kaneohe, Kaneohe bay, Kailua and most of Ohau's windward side. The Pali is the site of the battle of Nuaunu, where Kamehameha, moi of Hawai'i defeated Kalanikupule, moi of O'ahu for supremecy of O'ahu.

The Old Pali Road used to connect the Windward side of Oahu with the South Shores of Honolulu. It was a treacherous climb and descent, and site of the famed battle that sedimented Kamehameha the Great's victory over O'ahu and Maui Chiefs.

A view over the windward side of Oahu from the cliffs of the Ko'olau mountains, the eroded remnant of one of the two shiled volcanoes that forms the island of Oahu. The Pali is the site of the Battle of Nuaunu, where Kamehameha I defeated Kalanikupule for control of Oahu. More than 400 of Kalanikūpule's soldiers were driven off the edge of the cliff to their deaths 1,000 feet below.
