Saline Valley, Death Valley National Park Early morning. On the left are towers left over from the tramway that ran up and over the Inyo Mountains, crossing Daisy Canyon. The stakes in the water are leftover from salt collection ponds. Carol had the creative vision; I was the monkey with the camera and the sti...

This is a 3x6 panoramic shot of Victoria's Inner Harbour, spanning from the Fairmont Empress Hotel on the left, to the Undersea Gardens on the right. You can see the BC Legislature Buildings in in the centre background, and the lower causeway. I did a panorama of this location before, but from the other direction. This...

Downtown Vancouver at night, as seen from Spanish Banks Beach near Kitsilano. From this viewpoint, the buildings are more than 4 miles away, so there was some atmospheric distortion present. The shore at this beach is very flat, so with the tide being out, there were areas of dry land and relatively still water to cr...

Today marks the halfway point of 365 photo journey over at 365Project.org. Boy I've learned a lot. I've learned: long exposures, panoramas, landscapes, and seascapes. I've learned to love my primes, stand on 3 legs, and see with my 50mm. I can spot a killer dusk when it's still afternoon. I've gotten out and streched ...

I was inspired by the amazing work I've seen this week at 365Project.org to do another panoramic photo. I noticed how still Victoria's inner harbour was last night, so I quickly setup on my deck and took a sequence of 3 long exposure shots to make this panorama. The 3 exposures were taken left to right for 15, 30, a...

I set out to do some long exposure night photography, and came across this vista. This is my first attempt at shooting the Oak Bay Marina in Victoria, and it's a multi-image panorama at that, so I expect to go back and take a second crack at this. This is a 7 image, single row panorama shot with my Nikon D600, Nikkor...

I finally received my panoramic gimble tripod head, so I thought I'd try it on something familiar first. Victoria's inner harbour is always beautiful, day or night, but it gets particularly stunning during the Christmas holidays. This year in particular added all the new [faux] Christmas trees all through the harbour.....

Donna Hostick @dhostick at 365 Project challenged me for Get Pushed Week 10 to a panorama - "Victoria's a beautiful city set in a beautiful part of the country, so I want to see more as it's been a while since my last visit." This is my absolutely final response. Promise. Yesterday, I shot a single frame panorama, and...
