I am a plant ecologist who has just begun to get her feet wet with stream ecology while studying the effects of stream restoration on riparian zones. I am studying the effect of time-since-restoration on streams in Northern Sweden which were channelized to facilitate timber floating. During the timber floating era, boulders were moved to the sides of streams which disconnected riparian zones from their streams. I am researching the effect of replacing these boulders back into streams. I have assembled a chronosequence of time-since-restoration which includes 28 streams; the oldest streams being 25 years since restoration and the youngest being just one year old, along with controls of impacted (channelized) and near-natural streams. During the 2011 field season, I inventoried plant biodiversity and production in the riparian zones of the chronosequence. Additionally, I surveyed in-stream plant communities. As part of this, I took Gigapans of most sites.
