    Yeah, now that I've seen the close up Google Earth view of Split Peak you e-mailed I have to agree that the snow fields are identically configured. Thanks for tracking this down!

    I checked it out in Google Earth and I think that's Split Mountain, in King's Canyon National Park, 176 kilometers away. Yes, that's the Sierra Nevada.

    That peak's height is 4,287 meters, eighth highest peak in California. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_Mountain_ Will open in a new tab or window(California)
