The faint stars of Monoceros are just below Canis Major and to the right of Orion's belt and sword. The Unicorn straddles the celestial equator, and so it is always on our horizon. It is also on the galactic equator, and on clear moonless nights, this part of the sky is awash in the light of the Milky Way.
