Hydra is the largest and longest of all modern constellations. Most of Hydra is in the South Celestial Hemisphere where it weaves its way through 11 other constellations. Its brightest star, Alpha Hydrae, or Alphard, is in the lower left corner. It is Hydra's only named star.
