Alex, The leaves don't look at all like any plant in the Ranunculaceae. Is there more than one plant with the same common name, or am I lookiing at the wrong fallen log? Besides, Doll's Eyes have white fruit with a black scar, thus they look like doll's eyes, yes?

    Alex, Richard,

I'll suggest it's the non-native lily-of-the-valley, Convallaria majalis. It's been years since I attended U. Guelph, but it's probably still moderately invasive in local forests.

Hi Richard - better log, better shot, better plant! My notes were from my impressions when standing there - and the plant is visible in the snapshot "Doll's Eyes" - a better shot is at www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=31738 back in August.
