Joints by Jen Piatek from the GigaPan Horseshoe Bend (Page, AZ) by Jen Piatek
Parallel ractures through the rock unit - the large crack to the left of the snapshot is the same, but enlarged by weathering.
These features were formed by tectonic forces affecting the area.

Cross Beds by Jen Piatek from the GigaPan Horseshoe Bend (Page, AZ) by Jen Piatek
A sequence of cross beds, which indicate the sediments that formed this sandstone were deposited in sand dunes (the direction of the beds indicates wind direction).
There are at least three sets of cross beds in this snapshot, which indicate at least three sets of sand dunes that formed on top of each other over geologic time.

Erosion & Deposition by Jen Piatek from the GigaPan Horseshoe Bend (Page, AZ) by Jen Piatek
The faster-moving water on the outside of the bend removes talus from the cliff base, while the slower water on the inner part of the bend leaves the debris and deposits some of its own.

Deposition by Jen Piatek from the GigaPan Horseshoe Bend (Page, AZ) by Jen Piatek
Forms by slowing of river flow along the inside of the bend: lower velocity water cannot carry as much sediment.
