Not snow! by John De Carteret from the GigaPan Looking east at Greve de Lecq Beach, Jersey north coast, UK by John De Carteret
Not snow or grasses waving in the wind, this is the unsightly remains of agricultal plastic sheeting used by farmers to protect the early potato crop. Unfortunately, if not properly fixed down it becomes windborne, tangles up in trees, and blights the landscape until the plastic breaks down !!!!!!

Castel de Lecq by John De Carteret from the GigaPan Looking east at Greve de Lecq Beach, Jersey north coast, UK by John De Carteret
Here is the summit of a large earth mound, known as Castel de Lecq. The mound is 270 ft high and bears obvious traces of ancient enhancements. The exact date of these enhancements is unknown but it has been suggested that they probably belong to the Late Iron Age, when many similar Promontory Forts were being constructed in Cornwall and Brittany.

Kempt Tower by John De Carteret from the GigaPan The Scarpe by John De Carteret
Kempt Tower was built in 1834, its date stone can be seen above the door, in St Ouen’s Bay on the west coast of Jersey. A cannon was fixed to a rotating platform on the roof. It is a Martello Tower and the only one of its kind of its kind surviving in Jersey.
During Summer months the tower is home to an exhibition on the adjacent Les Mielles conservation area.0 comments
