    Now here is a thing. I grew up in a small market town called Newton Abbott about 100 miles to the West in Devon. It had a building that used to be an art school where my parents met and studied. It may still be there for all I know - it was the library when I was there. The thing about the building is that it had the name Passmore Edwards on it - something I never really thought about when I was in Newton. I guess I thought "some old bloke" as you do when you are a teenager :-) Anyway when I saw this when walking through Falmouth it stopped me dead in my tracks and took me back 35 years to Newton Abbot. It turns out that Passmore Edwards was a philanthropist and build a number of buildings that were combine art and technical schools.

    I'm not sure what this is, but as a sort of arty-memorial thing it is typical of this area of Falmouth. I saw it lit up at night by many nightlights in paper bags which was very pretty indeed. Some sort of fund-raising event I think.
