me... by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan Hursley Churchyard (p2) by Rich Gibson
Listening to the last Harry Potter on my iPod, while sitting on a grave in an English churchyard. It wasn't too big a stretch to imagine Godrick's Hollow from where I was sitting.

Yet more gravestones by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan All Souls Churchyard, Hursley, UK (a6) by Rich Gibson
I could apologize for my apparent fixation on cemetary gigapans, but really, what would be the point? I sort of dig the history and the textures and light, so as long as that is true I am likely to take pictures.

My happy albeit lonely car... by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan I5 from a hill...(l3) by Rich Gibson
abandoned by the side of I5 as I scamber up a hill, my van perseveres, confident that I will return, that I must return, for what am I going to do, disapear off the side of a hill on I5?
Hah! I think not. But that would be funny...Hop out of the van, with other people in it (assuming other people would consent to partake of the madness which is a road trip Rich style), 'I'm just running up to take a panorama' and run up the hill, okay, sort of trudge up, and then set up the camera and start it going and then poke around casually, then slip behind a tree, down the other side of the hill, hike cross country 6 miles to the next road and a waiting get a way vehicle with a full tank of gas, slip on the shades and make my way to ...
The fantasy falls completely apart there. Why abandon my car on the side of the road in order to hop into a different car? It all offends my sense of the conservation of cars...don't run cars off of the road and stuff.

Ice Box person comes out to investigate by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan Orland tower, and Ice Box Market, Orland California (l13) by Rich Gibson
He doesn't look happy here, rather fierce in fact, but it was all good.
They saw me set up the gigapan, and were intensely curious, but once I explained things they were into it.

Truck and reflection by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan Ponds at sunset, and Interstate 5 (l14) by Rich Gibson
The neat thing about this pond was watching the traffic, and the reflections from the traffic, pass by. I was a few hundred yards from the only interstate to touch both Canada and Mexico, an incredible transit corridor, and aside from seeing the traffic and a bit of sound I felt isolated. Birds and insects and the death of the sun.

Crags in the distance by Rich Gibson from the GigaPan Castle Crag and Trees (l7) by Rich Gibson
I am continuously amazed at how well humans are able to selectively focus on one object of interest.
When I was at the view point I mostly fixated on the Crags. They felt absolutely overwhelming, almost intimidating hanging off in the sky 'over there.'
But looking at the gigapan the Crags occupy just a small part of the field of few. The prominence of the crags which I felt was just that-felt. It was my experience, not the dominant geological motif.
