    This gravestone shows 廣東開平 as the hometown of the buried. Guangtong Kaiping is in the south of China, coordinates: 22°22′11″N 112°41′4″E.

    The Chinese characters here are read vertically from top to bottom. 光绪辛丑年 was the 27th year of the last emperor of the Qing dynasty Guangxu's reign. It was in 1901. 孟冬吉日立,indicated that it was erected on an auspicious day in mid winter, between November and December. The line on the center used 必珠卜 as Pittsburgh, rather than 匹兹堡, which is the name being used today.
