360 degree panorama from the entrance to the Hallo Bay Camp. This location is known as "the point." Bears frequently walk down the beach. Two were there just moments before this pano was taken. This version replaces an earlier half-resolution panorama.

A view of the Alyeska Resort from the top of the lift. The Girdwood valley has seven glaciers. This is a world-class ski resort. Obviously a summer view.

Take the Alyeska Resort tram to the top and you can see that you're still not at the highest point on the mountain. An additional ski lift goes higher.

There is a steel frame inside, and the spacing of the tent ribs might deter a bear, but that is not the camp's strategy. Living accommodations at the camp. Primitive but adequate. This is a wilderness area that is reached only by a small plane that lands on the beach. There are only a few people here at any time.

Nancy's Meadow is a large area in which brown bears forage for sedges and grasses. We saw three big brown bears in a short time while watching the meadow. This pano was created under difficult conditions; wind gusts to 35 knots and rain. Canon 5D2 on tripod, at a very recent bear bed site.
