All of the EPIC Series Robotic Heads have tested well in cold weather applications. Usually the concern is if the batteries will hold up to cold conditions. We’ve had users that have stated performance loss with the EPIC Pro battery in -70 degrees Fahrenheit but that is to be expected in such extreme conditions. |

Hi - The key thing is keeping the batteries warm. In very cold weather they will not perform well. You may want to pick up several batteries and keep them warm in a pocket until you actually start using the gigapan, after having set up the tripod, prepared the camera, etc. The gigapan pro has the strongest battery life of any of the batteries…but is also the largest and most expensive… |

I’ve regularly used the Epic and the Epic 100 in temps below -25C in Edmonton. With fresh Duracell batteries I can record more than 400 images per charge |

Check out nickel-zinc batteries. They are less affected by cold and have a higher voltage than NiMHs. |

i have been using gigapan epic pro head here in Alberta, shot many times at -35C (-31F) it just plan works, it keeps going & going, make sure, you have it fully charged, keep battery warm before you head out. If your going to do extended cold weather shooting, get extra battery. Also turn off LCD display |

I would also put it in a plastic bag like I do my cameras, in and out of the cold to prevent condensation. |
