This is my first attempt at a large pano. I intened it to be an HDR, but I did not do the settings correctly. Will have to try again. :) It was very windy so I am not sure if that was why I have some spaces that are out of focus, if its not from shake. I also need to still figure out how to edit the photo before uploading it straight from the stitch software... Oh learning curves :) LOL so much fun. Anyone with any helpful advice would be appriciated!

Hi Victoria, If you have access to Photoshop or other full-featured editor like GIMP, you can batch-process the images so they're all color balanced and brightness corrrected at once. Otherwise you'll have to add the same adjustments to each in turn. Look for "batch processing" in your editor's Help menu. Stitcher gives a ragged outside edge to the panorama. If you prefer a rectangular edge, save from Stitcher to RAW or TIF, then crop it in your photo editor, then use Uploader to post it to gigapan.com.

Hi Tom, THank you so much for your help! I will try this. Any help is greatly appreciated, I am still trying to figure out how to edit the photo before the stitching - do I just edit each frame first then stitch it? Then trying to figure out how to crop it straight... BIG learning curves here :) But so excited to learn!

Hi Vicroia, three things contributed to your problem: a wide-angle lens, not rotating around the lens' optical center, and close objects in the picture. The distortion at the edges of a superwide like your 15mm means that the pictures don't fit together as smoothly as you'd have with a longer lens. If the lens doesn't rotate around its optical center, there's a change from shot to shot in the position of near and far elements. This is not a problem with all objects far away, but you... ...had the railing right next to the lens. The software has to decide whether to stitch based on the railing or the background behind it. It did a poor job of both as a result. You can adjust the GigaPan to get the pivot points close to the optical center of the lens. Check the videos. Using a less wide lens will give you better panos, as well as showing more detail (but you'll have to shoot more pictures). Try not to include objects just in front of the camera. Good luck!
