In the year 1802, two brothers named "Glassmere" (ancestors of Charles Glassmire - yours truly) came from Alsace and migrated to western Pennsylvania. They started the first glass factory in western PA that year and eventually established the town of Glassmere. It stood and grew until the 1940's and then merged with other municipalities. I am the last remaining descendent.

fetching snapshots...

This is too cool! My grandmother always told us that she was from Glassmere, PA. Our family always thought she meant Glassport. I have been trying forever to find information on Glassmere and it seems my persistence has finally paid off! I would love to find more info. This is truly all that is left of the town?

I like the extra comments of Mr. Glassmire about the town of Glassmere. Who took this gigapan since Chuck is in the picture?
