This statue is located in Sesquicentennial Park, and is located directly across Buffalo Bayou from an earlier GigaPan taken of James A. Baker III, his Secrectary of State (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/65116/)

Also, in this panorama we see Jacob and Shaun skateboarding their way down the hill. They came back to tell me that this was the first time after numerous attempts that they made the descent without falling. Being in a GigaPan provided the encouragement to do their best.

The panorama was taken hand-held with a Nikon D7000 and the 18-105mm 3.5-5.6G ED Nikkor lens on a blue-sky Friday, late-morning in November.

Although the panorama consists of only 13 stitched photos, seeing it as a curved panorama on a curved surface via the View in Google Earth 4.2 link can be memorable.

    Right and swan-panorama is the one that barely made the .05 gigapixel limit and the *Jolly Sailor in Saltford* is one of my most favorite GigaPans because of the composition and the sun and the history that panorama encompasses.

    I was going to say "that's because I use tone-mapping" but then I realised that the image you refer to is not tone-mapped. In that particular case I think I should say "I got lucky" :-)

    Thanks Kilgore, I bit of explanation; prior to the time that these two skateboard dudes showed up, I had taken a 360-degree panorama of George Bush and then BOOM they appeared, and immediately went into the take-photo mode and was not sure about anything until I came home to see that the composition was acceptable and the exposure was right-on. I am pleased with the results; however, my sun never looks as good as your sun: www.gigapan.org/gigapans/9168/snaps hots/25609/ ... maybe it's the difference in latitude between you and I???

    I love the composition in this shot. You have the trees on the left balanced by the buildings on the right but the buildings only seem "the same" as the trees because - of course they are much bigger but further away. This makes me double-take every time I look at the shot. Nice one.
