  1. Ideally I wanted to get atop Comb Ridge to make a 360 degree panorama, but access turned out to be an issue. Next best option was 180 degrees west from the gap where Hwy 163 passes through Comb Ridge. All things considered, I'm not too disappointed with the alternative.

  2. Alongside Route 163 lies the balancing rock feature that gives the area its name. Behind the hat is a remarkable geological formation that looks like a zig-zag pattern on a bolt of cloth. The ridge is one of multiple folds in the top layers of sandstone that run north-south called The Comb.
